For the past few months I have spoken to my mother in regards to creating a Caribbean themed event in Atlanta where the proceeds go to an Aids organization. After a long debate, we have decided to purchase Christmas gifts for the kids of the infectious disease unit of Grady Hospital. She was even going to come down and help work the event. We even decided to have her prepare rum cakes to put inside of the VIP gift boxes the day before she passed….
So my family decided to instead of asking people to send flowers for the funeral, we are requesting for people to donate money towards purchasing presents for the hospital. Since she passed November 10, 2015 during the holidays, we have decided to pick a different county hospital in different cities and do the same thing every year.
The 1st annual Cherry May Reynolds Christmas Hope fund was a success! We raised 725 in total allowing us to purchase gifts for 41 children ages 3-17.
We shopped at several different stores but we started off at Care Mart. For every hundred dollars spent in this store provided cared for a family of 4 including their utilities. We were able to provide for 8 people on our first run shopping!
Audi Atlanta was filled with beautiful cars, beautiful music and beautiful people for singer/songwriter Reneard’s “Confessions of A Virgo” album release party. The evening was hosted by Rashan Ali (Multimedia Personality/Philanthropist) and the “Ode to R&B” musical soundtrack was provided by Jay Tek (Program Director – Streetz 94.5). Guest were treated to delightful hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Marlo (Cravings Express) and complimentary cocktails courtesy of Hennessy. Later that evening, the man of the hour Reneard took the stage for a soulful live performance with a full band as he performed select records from “Confessions of A Virgo” including the single “Yea Yeah” with special guest rap duo TK N Cash. In between songs Reneard had an intimate Q and A with host Rashan Ali where he spoke on his influences, features on the album, and how his Dad always pushed him to work hard for what he wanted in life. A heartfelt moment took place on stage when Reneard surprised his Dad with a commemorative “Confessions of A Virgo” plaque as a token of his appreciation. Reneard was then surprised by a commemorative plague of his own by Greg Smith (SESAC Writer/Publisher Relations). The evening concluded with guest, friends and family purchasing copies of “Confessions of A Virgo” and taking pictures with Reneard. “Confessions of A Virgo” is available now on: iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.

The weekend of November 6-9, 2014 New York Times Best Selling Author Mary Honey B. Morrison, debuted Single Husbands as a stage play to the Atlanta area. I had the opportunity to sit in the audience and witness the pages of her book come to life as the characters she created sashayed across the stage. The story line was thought provocative, true to life, and entertaining. I am very proud of my friend and I advise any of you to get your copy via DVD or check it out for yourself at a theater near you.

This weekend, Downtown Atlanta was jam packed with fans that traveled from all over the country to witness South Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T battle for victory inside of the Georgia Dome. There was so much going on this past weekend from college fairs, seminars, and a slew of actities that included appearances by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rapper Ludacris, 2Chainz, and baseball icon Hank Aaron.
I want to thank the 100 Black Men of Atlanta for first of all being such a gracious host, providing myself and staff sideline tickets, and executing an overall wonderful event.
